Who We Are
Consumer Credit and Budget Counseling, Inc. is a nonprofit consumer education and financial counseling agency. Our mission is to educate individuals and families enabling them to reach their financial goals and solve their financial problems through financial literacy education, credit counseling, pre and post bankruptcy counseling and education, and comprehensive housing counseling.
Consumer Credit and Budget Counseling, Inc. is committed to promoting consumer education, and provides a number of conferences and seminars on budgeting, credit, and debt management, within the community, as well as nationally through our web site. We publish a wide array of materials, providing educational and technical assistance on credit and budget management.
As a HUD approved housing counselor, CC&BC has contracted with a number of Public Housing Authorities to offer comprehensive homeownership counseling. CC&BC also provides the required homeownership counseling for many First Time Homeownership grant programs.
Consumer Credit and Budget Counseling, Inc. is approved by the United States Trustee Program to provide pre-filing credit counseling for New Jersey bankruptcy filers. Under this program CC&BC offers counseling on the alternatives to resolve credit problems, analyzes the client's budget, their current financial condition, the factors that caused such financial condition, and how the client can develop a plan to respond to the problems without incurring negative amortization of debt.

PreBankruptcy Counseling
Consumer Credit and Budget Counseling has over 9 years of experience educating consumers and clients about money and credit. This agency is accredited by Council on Accreditation, an independent third-party organization that reviews and monitors entities that provide social services. We are a non-profit agency. We are organized and operate in accordance with Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. We do not pay or receive fees or other considerations for referrals of debtor students to our agency.
You have the option of taking our PreBankruptcy Credit Counseling, our pre-petition credit counseling program, in our Marmora New Jersey office or online with one-on-one telephone counseling. A certified consumer credit counselor will be conducting the counseling session. Our counselors have completed a counselor certification program offered by various third party providers.
You may be asked to voluntarily disclose basic demographic information. We will not disclose any such information that you provide orally or in writing to anyone, except as authorized by you in writing or as required by law. We may compile data in aggregate form; however, your information will not be disclosed in any manner that would personally identify you.
Consumer Credit and Budget Counseling does not pay or receive fees or other consideration for the referral of debtor students to or by the provider.
To help cover the cost of providing this program to you, this agency charges a fee of up to $50.00. However, you may be eligible to have this fee reduced or waived (see Needs Based Debtor’s Education Fee Schedule). We will not deny service due to an inability to pay.
At the conclusion of the counseling session, you will be provided with a certificate that you will need if you are filing for bankruptcy. As an approved provider, this certificate is valid for up to 180 days after it is issued.
If you are dissatisfied with the service provided by our agency you can utilize the Compliant Resolution Process. You agree to hold Consumer Credit and Budget Counseling, its employees, and volunteers harmless from any claim, suit, and action resulting from this service. Nothing herein shall apply to actions or claims under the provisions of the United State Bankruptcy code, 11 U.S.C. Sec. 101 et seq

Privacy Policy
Consumer Credit and Budget Counseling respects your privacy. We recognize the importance of protecting the privacy of personal identifying information that may be submitted to us for analysis and review. It is the policy of Consumer Credit and Budget Counseling to ensure that all client information will be held in the strictest of confidence.
You may be asked for information in order to complete the Debtors Education. Any and all information collected by us, either through our web site, via mail, fax or E-Mail, from the telephone, as a result of face-to-face counseling, or from any other source, will be kept strictly confidential. Such information will not be sold, reused, rented, loaned or otherwise disclosed.
Any information you give us will be treated with the utmost care, and will not be used in any ways that you have not consented to in writing. Consumer Credit and Budget Counseling is committed to data security.
This notice is provided to you pursuant to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (disclosure of nonpublic personal information by financial services provider), which requires a financial institution to notify its customers of its privacy practices and procedures on an annual basis. As we do not disclose personal information except for legitimate business and legal reasons, as specifically authorized in the signed Authorization and Agreement, no opt out of information sharing is required.

2. To treatment with dignity and respect
3. To express dissatisfaction through a Complaint Resolution Process
4. To discontinue their relationship with CC&BC at any time
5. To ask questions and have their concerns addressed
Complaint Resolution Process
We are committed to providing you with high quality professional services. However, if you are not satisfied with the services provided, or if you wish to file a complaint, we ask that you follow these guidelines:
Step 1.Try to resolve the issue with the staff member involved, giving him or her specific information about your complaint.
Step 2. If "Step 1." Is not possible, or the issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, write or call the Senior Counselor (at 299 South Shore Road, Marmora, New Jersey 08223, 1-888-738-8233)
Step 3. CC&BC may request a meeting with you (phone or face-to-face) or seek more information from the staff person. In any event, CC&BC will respond with 15 days.
Step 4. If your issue is still unresolved, you may appeal in writing directly to the President or Executive Director, at the address above. After additional fact finding, you will receive a concluding decision within 15 days.
